What is the difference between a Caregiver and a Nurse?
A caregiver assists with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, meals and mobility, while a nurse (Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse) handles clinical tasks such as wound dressings, injections and catheter changes. Depending on your needs, we can provide one service or both.
Do I need a doctor's referral to book a nurse?
No. You can book a private nurse at home directly, with private nursing available, from single visits to overnight and 24 hour care, without needing a referral. Our nurses will still collaborate with your GP or specialist to keep your care aligned with your medical history.
Can you help after surgery?
Absolutely. We can arrange for a nurse or support worker to meet you at discharge, take you home, help you settle in, and provide clinical monitoring for the first critical 24 to 48 hours, so your pain is managed and you're safe during those vulnerable first few days.
Are your Nurses qualified?
Yes. We employ Registered and Enrolled Nurses who are currently registered with AHPRA, and every nurse undergoes background checks and clinical screening. Qualified caregivers are also on hand for everyday support.

We are really greatfull for the nurse next door kiama team since coming on board to assist in the care of my grandparents 84 and 87 both different forms of dementia and multipul other heath problems. From the managment team to the care staff really are amazing and for my grandparents to accept is one thing and to like and interact is another and the nurse next door team have done just that and braught them out of there shell. By having the team come on board this has aloud for mr to spend more quality time with my partner and children alowing us some well earned time away and support our children in there sporting endevours. They also assisted me with some light household duties in the first week or so. They were kind enough to make arrangements so I didn't miss out on getting to see Keith Urban in concert again in Wollongong- we had such a fun night!
