What is the difference between a Caregiver and a Nurse?
A caregiver assists with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, meals and mobility, while a nurse (Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse) handles clinical tasks such as wound dressings, injections and catheter changes. Depending on your needs, we can provide one service or both.
Do I need a doctor's referral to book a nurse?
No. You can book a private nurse at home directly, with private nursing available, from single visits to overnight and 24 hour care, without needing a referral. Our nurses will still collaborate with your GP or specialist to keep your care aligned with your medical history.
Can you help after surgery?
Absolutely. We can arrange for a nurse or support worker to meet you at discharge, take you home, help you settle in, and provide clinical monitoring for the first critical 24 to 48 hours, so your pain is managed and you're safe during those vulnerable first few days.
Are your Nurses qualified?
Yes. We employ Registered and Enrolled Nurses who are currently registered with AHPRA, and every nurse undergoes background checks and clinical screening. Qualified caregivers are also on hand for everyday support.

This service is just amazing and we are so grateful and happy we found it! We needed some after surgery nursing care, to be provided in our home as we couldn't get out to the hospital, with the care and expertise expected from a hospital service. Our nurse, Michelle, was absolutely wonderful and a ray of light during such a difficult time. She is very friendly, approachable and knew exactly what she was doing. We were very impressed with the whole service, from first contact with the Intake Centre to the ongoing care provided by Michelle. The care and compassion across the entire service was amazing. I changed to nurse next door as previous provider could not supply the same person or consistent time. Many times no one came. I was expecting that this would be the case for other providers . Not so with Nurse next door Tecoma. We now have a nurse driven service ( not all of them are) able to supply consistent carers at the same time each day. An RN came and did the initial assessment of the home and my friends needs. That did not happen previously, it was done over the phone. Not only that their RN’s have driven quality care, making suggestions that transformed our lives. I am an RN myself and l am so impressed with the service. I should have changed ages ago.
