How we can help
How soon should I book post-operative care?
We recommend booking as soon as your surgery date is confirmed. This allows us to prepare your home and match the right team to your specific needs. However, we understand that medical schedules change, and we can often accommodate last-minute requests if your discharge date moves.
Do I need a Nurse or a Caregiver?
This depends on the complexity of your recovery. A caregiver is well suited to help with mobility, meals, hygiene and medication prompts. If you require injections, complex wound dressings or clinical monitoring, we will assign a registered nurse. Many clients combine both for complete support.
Is there a minimum booking time?
No, our service is flexible. You can book a Settle-in Service for just the day of discharge, or ongoing support for several weeks. There are no lock in contracts, so you can simply use the service until you regain your strength and independence.

My 90 year old dad suffered a fracture in his neck and after a stay in a rehabilitation hospital he was able to come home thanks to the wonderful care and services provided by Nurse Next Door. Thanks to the thorough organisation and planning and with client consultation with Winnie and Will, dad’s transition back to home was a smooth one. Nurse Next Door risk assessed my parents’ house and were able to provide mobility aids and make sure that regular activities like showering were easier and safer for dad. They even counted how many steps he would have to take from, for example, the bed to the bathroom. The entire family has benefitted from the stellar people from Nurse Next Door who have come into dad’s life at a critical time and we are so appreciative. Even mum has had help with household chores and shopping. We have seen mum and dad grow in confidence with the knowledge that they are getting expert, professional and ethical care. The staff are highly trained. Most are fully qualified registered nurses and this is a stand out feature of Nurse Next Door because their medical knowledge and understanding has meant that dad’s neck brace, for example, can be taken on and off in the correct manner and without further injury. Nurse at home listens to clients and their needs and requests and are very accommodating. There is genuine kindness and compassion. Their caring approach and their positive encouragement make a huge difference. Special thanks goes to Winnie, Francine, Roselle, Belinda, Butch and Darren. They are outstanding people.
