What is the difference between a Caregiver and a Nurse?
A caregiver assists with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, meals and mobility, while a nurse (Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse) handles clinical tasks such as wound dressings, injections and catheter changes. Depending on your needs, we can provide one service or both.
Do I need a doctor's referral to book a nurse?
No. You can book a private nurse at home directly, with private nursing available, from single visits to overnight and 24 hour care, without needing a referral. Our nurses will still collaborate with your GP or specialist to keep your care aligned with your medical history.
Can you help after surgery?
Absolutely. We can arrange for a nurse or support worker to meet you at discharge, take you home, help you settle in, and provide clinical monitoring for the first critical 24 to 48 hours, so your pain is managed and you're safe during those vulnerable first few days.
Are your Nurses qualified?
Yes. We employ Registered and Enrolled Nurses who are currently registered with AHPRA, and every nurse undergoes background checks and clinical screening. Qualified caregivers are also on hand for everyday support.

I do not have photos or videos to post, but I can say without fear of contradiction that Nurse Next Door , Joondalup, is an excellent care agency. I moved to WA from Queensland in around July this year and have found the agency to go above and beyond in helping me with the confusion of moving to WA which has many procedures different to Queensland. Without the help of staff I would have been completely lost in the maze of differences I have encountered, but staff knowing the difficulty of settling into a new state have been wonderful. I would also like to say, that as an elderly person with a terminal illness, their care has been outstanding. I could not have wished for better. There were some small issues in the early stages getting to know a new care agency and settling into a new state, but these were sorted with care and patience, for which I am very grateful. Coming home from hospital after surgery I didn't want help. I wanted to be independent and do things for myself but I very quickly realized that I did need help and couldn't always keep asking family due to their own commitments. I was told about Nurse Next Door and they came to see me. We had a chat about my needs and goals and what I would like to do out and about the community. Nurse Next Door have been a wonderful addition and I've never looked back. They are always polite and helpful and never make me feel I cant do it - or just do it for me. I wanted to retain my independence but I've also gained friends. All the support workers are absolutely fantastic and I couldn't recommend them more highly.
