Yes. Remaining in a familiar environment is often the best way to manage anxiety and confusion. We offer scalable support, from a few hours of respite to 24/7 supervision, ensuring your loved one is never alone or at risk. As their needs progress, we adapt the level of care to keep them safe and comfortable at home.
Yes. Our caregivers receive specialised training in dementia care. They are equipped with practical strategies to handle behavioural changes, communication difficulties, and safety concerns (such as wandering) with skill and dignity. This ensures they can manage challenges confidently without causing distress.
We view behaviour as a form of communication. Our caregivers are trained to identify the underlying triggers, such as pain, hunger, or frustration, rather than just reacting to the symptom. We use gentle redirection and validation techniques to restore calm and resolve the situation without conflict.
Yes. Consistency is critical for someone living with dementia, since a familiar face builds trust and reduces confusion. Instead of a revolving door of staff, we build a small, dedicated team who your loved one will always recognise and feel comfortable with.
We are so thankful for the care and support given to our dad Kevin, so so grateful to Rebecca Michael and especially Terry for showing Kevin so much love and support during his final months and our mum as well, you definitely made a difference to our lives so thankyou. Highly recommend Nurse next door..
Thank you so much for looking after our father and family, you were so supportive and caring, you provide a wonderful service and go above and beyond to care for your patients and their families.
I had a nurse from Nurse Next Door stay with me overnight while I did a prep for a procedures the next day. She prepared the medications, monitored my Blood sugar levels and blood pressure, and checked that I was safe all night. It was very comforting and made me feel that I would get through ii, and took away the anxiety. I was better with the nurse than I would have been hospital. I highly recommend this service
We were introduced to Michael and Rebecca who were starting their new franchise when our dad was needing in home care. They were so understanding accomodating and listened to what was important to make mum and dad comfortable with carers coming into the home. I appreciated how easy they were to talk to and how they welcomed our feedback and adjusted whatever was needed and organised the most suitable carers. We are very greatful for their personal and wonderful care right through to his recent passing and beyond xxx
I feel very honoured to have been the very first client for Nurse Next Door at Kiama! I needed assistance after knee replacement surgery including showering, putting on and taking off surgical stockings and transport to my medical appointments. They also assisted me with some light household duties in the first week or so. Michael, Rebecca and especially Julie are such lovely people and gave me the confidence, reassurance and advice to get back on my feet in a month or so. They were kind enough to make arrangements so I didn't miss out on getting to see Keith Urban in concert again in Wollongong- we had such a fun night! I highly recommend this service - they helped me out so much and we had lots of fun along the way.
